Munich export helles homebrew beer recipe

Munich helles is a beer defined by a clean, malty profile. There are hints of floral noble hops, but they are definitely not bitter.

This homebrew beer recipe is advanced since it is all-grain, but for those of you looking for an advanced, and very tasty homebrew, this might be a good beer recipe for you.

This recipe features a double infusion mash to get a more authentic German flavor profile without the equipment needed for a full decoction mash. It is Reinheitsgebot compliant. Only barley, yeast, water and hops in this one.

  • 9.5 lbs German pilsner malt (2.0 SRM)
  • 1 lb Carafoam (2.0 SRM)

Hops

  • 1 oz Hallertauer (4.0% AA)  60 minutes
  • .25 oz Hallertauer (4.0% AA) 30 minutes

Yeast

  • Zurich Lager (White Labs #WLP885) [35.00 ml]

Additives

None, this is a German Reinheitsgebot beer remember!

Sparge Water: 2.06 gal Grain Temperature: 72.0 F
Sparge Temperature: 168.0 F Tun Temperature: 72.0 F
Adjust Temp for Equipment: TRUE Mash PH: 5.20

Mash Notes: Double step infusion - for medium body beers requiring a protein rest. Used primarily in beers high in unmodified grains or adjuncts.
