Heineken Lager

Heineken LagerFrom the Website:

Description

The whole brewing process, from brewhouse and fermentation to maturation, is to be described as traditional and classic. Very strict control of the recipe and highly efficient quality control have made Heineken beer as successful as it is. The characteristics of Heineken include its fresh and fruity yeast aroma ('Heineken A-yeast') and its mildly bitter taste, enhancing the drinkability of the beer. In our marketing strategy, this beer obviously is the 'A' brand.

Heineken is brewed in a natural brewing process, with no additives. Its ingredients are water, barley malt, hops, and the unique Heineken A-yeast for the fermentation in the brewing process (as you may know, these are the ingredients allowed by the Reinheitsgebot).

Ingredients

The raw materials include: water, Heineken's unique A-yeast, malted barley and hops. No additives are added to any Heineken products. We do not use any wheat in our recipe. We also have a policy of not using GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) raw materials.

Storage

Store in a cool and dark place; frost-free; never expose to direct sunlight or intense artificial light; store in a dry and odorless room.

Much better in a can

This is the can version and is not the same beer as the green bottle.

Being in a can this beer does not have the typical "skunk" quality of
the green bottles. Why Heineken insists on using green bottles is beyond
me, but marketers have a lot of influence. Anyway, to the review that
you want to read.

Aroma:
A slight bit of sweet graininess and no hop aroma. As the beer warms up there is more of a malt character present. Again, unlike the almost undrinkable bottle version, the can has the aroma of a nice to style lager.
Appearance:
Just like it should be, a light gold color and crystal clear. Head retention is white and does not persist.
Flavor:
There is a definite yeast character that seems to work well with the slight hop bitterness. No hop flavor to speak of. No diacytl,
Mouthfeel:
Nice and dry, but crisp. Medium light body, exactly to style. There is a definite stinging, but not overbearing from the carbonation.
Overall:
This beer is actually a nice refreshing lager for a hot Las Vegas summer day. As much as I despise the green bottle version, the can version actually hits the spot. Overall a very drinkable beer that benefits from being packaged in a light and oxygen free can.
