Unser Bier Amber

Unser Bier AmberThis beer from Basel Switzerland is from a brewery with its roots in homebrewing. Although they call it a simple lager, I am judging it as a specialty beer, it might be more like a Marzen as well.

From the brewery website:

Our first beer was an Amber beer. We wanted to produce a beer that is quite different from the usual lager beers served in Basel. Amber is also a lager but it is not hopped; it is not bitter. Women who usually don’t like beer tend to like it.

Style: Märzen / Oktoberfest
ABV:
5.0%
A nice, refreshing amber

A nice beer, nothing stands out, just nice to drink.

Aroma:
Mild Munich malt notes, no hop aroma and no fruitiness.
Appearance:
Amber, clear with moderate head retention and a slight bit of lace.
Flavor:
Lots of caramel and the dry finish leaves notes of toffee at the very end with a dry, tingling on the tongue.
Mouthfeel:
Medium mouthfeel with medium-high carbonation. Smooth with a slightly dry finish.
Overall:
Interesting sweet beer with a dry finish. This pairs extremely well with grilled meats and vegetables, BBQ anyone?
